Did you know that homeowner’s, renter’s and condo unit-owner policies do not cover damages caused by a flood. Flood damages add up quickly and can create a financial burden to property owners. According to FloodSmart.gov, the average flood claim is $33,000.
Are you protected?? Can you afford to make repairs out of your pocket??
First, it’s important to know what flood zone your home is located in and if your community participates with the National Flood Insurance Program. If you do not know these answers, please contact us at [email protected] to find out.
Second, it’s important to know…
What is a flood?
A flood is rising water that occurs over at least 2 acres of land that is normally dry or affects more than one property. Flooding can occur with heavy rains throughout the year, or with the melting of snow.
In September of 2004, Hurricane Ivan hit our region and devastated communities around Pittsburgh and some areas had up to nine inches of rain. Carnegie was hit hard and many homes and businesses were destroyed by rising creek waters. Other parts of Pittsburgh were also hit hard; Millvale, Etna, Shaler and Sharpsburg. Our 24/7 Claims department at Henderson Brothers, Inc. was inundated with calls from our clients who needed our help beginning on a Friday night, through the weekend and into Monday morning. Flooding can happen anywhere, at any time.
Flood insurance can only be purchased through an insurance agent, so if you would like more information, please contact us at [email protected].
