Henderson Brothers is thrilled to announce that Dan Coast, president of the firm’s Property and Casualty business unit, has been named a 2025 Next is Now Award honoree — a distinction celebrating leaders who are already applying their growth, making measurable impact, and stepping into greater responsibility today.

What the Next is Now Award Represents

The Next is Now Award recognizes individuals who have completed Solutions21’s Next Leader Now leadership development program and are actively putting their learning into action. Rather than honoring leadership as a future aspiration, the award highlights those whose daily work demonstrates that the future of leadership is happening now — shaping organizations, strengthening culture, and driving results in real time.

The Next Leader Now program is Solutions21’s flagship leadership experience for rising leaders. Designed for high-potential professionals across industries, it equips participants with skills, perspective, and confidence to lead in critical moments — not someday, but today. Participants sharpen capabilities in areas like strategic thinking, influence, communication, and decision-making under pressure, supported by seasoned coaches and peers.

Dan’s Leadership Journey

Dan’s leadership story begins in Elwood City, Pennsylvania, where the influence of early mentors and hard-working role models shaped his practical mindset. Encouraged by a high school boss to “make money while you sleep” and later inspired by recurring-revenue principles at Duquesne University, Dan followed a winding path from life insurance sales to a small agency in Erie, and ultimately to Henderson Brothers, where he found his long-term home in property and casualty.

Today, Dan is president of Henderson Brothers’ largest and oldest practice, where his work focuses on onboarding new clients, supporting producers, and resolving complex service and claims challenges. His leadership philosophy is straightforward: lift people up so clients and teammates can thrive. As Dan says, “My success will be a byproduct of that.”

Leadership With Purpose and Presence

Dan’s leadership style is calm, steady, and people-first. He strives to be “the calm in the storm,” especially when challenges arise, helping teams move toward solutions together with clarity and compassion. He is also refreshingly honest about his ongoing growth — acknowledging that his natural drive and commitment to people sometimes call for more directness when setting expectations.

Dan credits his experiences in Next Leader Now and the Leadership Development Institute (LDI) with accelerating his leadership evolution. Through these programs he gained practical tools for navigating difficult conversations, understanding different DiSC styles, and accessing real-time coaching — all helping him better align his intent with his impact. These skills are ones he draws on consistently as he leads across personalities and complex scenarios.

Service in and Beyond the Office

Service is part of Dan’s story both professionally and personally. He serves as regional chair for Blood Cancer United, formerly know as the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, a commitment rooted in the loss of his mother to leukemia when he was four years old. At home, he and his wife are raising three active children, and Dan remains intentional about presence, perspective, and balance as Henderson Brothers expands from its Pittsburgh roots to multiple locations nationwide.

Celebrating Leaders Shaping the Future Today

Dan’s inclusion among the 2025 Next is Now Award honorees underscores his commitment to leadership that lifts others, drives results, and exemplifies leadership in action. We are incredibly proud to celebrate this achievement, and we look forward to seeing the impact of his leadership continue to grow.
